I had the opportunity to visit Niagara Falls over the summer while in Ottawa for a close friend's wedding. I'll share the story with you, regardless of how embarrassing it is for me.
Perhaps in the opening you didn't catch the geographical implications, but we were in Ottawa (just south west actually in Carleton Place) and we went to Niagara Falls. I should mention we were only in Ottawa for a week, and much of that week was spent helping Derek and Julia prepare for their wedding. As a result of my terrible geographic knowledge, I told my wife we would go to Niagara Falls as it's "very close" to Ottawa. In my mind I had been doing math as if we were in Toronto; we weren't.
Niagara Falls is approximately 486kms from Carleton Place, so in a single day (yes, a single day) we drove to Niagara Falls and slammed in a 4 tour experience before heading back to the cabin we were staying in. The rental car, in that single day, accumulated about 1000kms. Thankfully we had rented an Audi so I had absolutely no problem driving it for that long.
All in all it was an amazing experience, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love my wife, and I think spending 10 hours in a car in a single day with her on an already ridiculously tight schedule is just a testament to how strong our marriage actually is.
